Glen Waverly Police Academy

The Victoria Police Academy is located at 1 View Mount Road, the grounds cover about  40 acres. We attended the Academy as part of the Library Technicians group I belong to. It was call Tech on Tour. It was a very interesting place to visit.

There library is in a tempary building at the moment, they are waiting for there building (a portable) to be ready to move into. The books are housed in a long hallway at the moment, the main work room is in the main ready room of the library so the staff share with anyone who wants to use the library.

Back in OZ

Now back at home, finally got the house back in order.

Had a great time in NZ catching up with family and friends.

Back at work now, started last Thusday. Kids start on Monday.

Boys start school Friday and Monday Week.

New Year 2011

Happy New Year everyone, family and friends.

I didn't see the new year in. Didn't hear the fireworks that local people set off, Mum said she had heard them through the night.

Back from the beach, even got a little bit burnt. Was cloudy that day and didn't think it was that hot, but it must have been.

At Heathers today, tonight mum is doing a new years dinner for family, as Michelle wasn't there for Xmas.

 

Papamoa Beach

Visiting my sister in Papamoa for a couple of days. She is staying with her n'laws. Usually every time I visit New Zealand I go and see her there, it gives me more time with her. Jim and Beryl are great taking on n'lwas family at their house.

Makes it hard for Scott and Brenden who both can't go in the water, Have cuts that can't get wet or dirty. Last night boys saw a shark which was caught on fishing rod and then let go.

Having a lovely warm and humid summer here. Taking a bit of getting use to.

Heading back to Mum and Dad's tomorrow afternoon. Sister and her family also heading up there as well.

Today went to a garden (Te Puna Quarry Park) which was a former quarry. Beautiful hibiscus. Very dry. There are also sculptures, especially liked the big dragon.

Wetn to a Mills Reef winery, brought a bottle for tea tonight.

Balance

I have been so slack in my blogging. Been watching the movie Julie and Julia, it has inspired me to start blogging again. It is sooooooooooooo hard to find the time to do my blog every day. Life is so busy. Kids to look after, and run around after. Husband to keep happy and run around after. Work and then myself to keep happy.

Balance is the key. Need to work out a balance to keep everyone happy, including myself. Need to set time aside for myself. Also time so I can blog.

Well we will see what happens!

 

Mildura

Back at work again, three weeks off went so quick.

Went to Mildura with my parents who were visiting from New Zealand and my two boys went with me.

Went to Mungo National Park, I highly recommend you go. We had to wait three days to go, we were originally meant to go on a Thursday, but rain meant we didn't get to go till Saturday, if it rains the roads are closed.

Stayed in cabins at the Golden River Caravan Park, just loved it, the caravan park backed onto the Murray river. There had been plenty of rain up that way so river was really full.

Afternoon tea

Yesterday went and had afternoon tea with Peter's brother and his wife in Frankston, was a great time. We hadn't been to there house in a couple of years. Was great to catch up with them and find out what they had been up to. Have seen Peter's brother a couple of time in between, so very nice to see his wife, she has been abit sick recently.

Bootcamp

At work after school at the moment we have a personal trainer coming in to help us with our fitness.

I think this is a brilliant idea. It helps us get fit, builds up our body. This means in the long run we will live long, and have less illness.

I can feel sore muscles afterwards, which means it is doing me good.

I have also starting eating less and better, because I feel better.

Graduation

On Friday night at the Box Hill town hall I graduated. I received my Advanced Diploma of Library/Information Services.

The ceremony was held at 7 pm. I had to be there at 5.30 to get my gown. Peter came to the ceremony.

6 people graduated in my course, only three of us were there.

Was nice to catch up and see what they had been up to. Both don't have jobs yet. I feel so luck to have my job. Seem like there isn't much work available at the moment, also once people get in a good job in libraries they seem to stay.

Building skills

Went with Eileen from work to a workshop at RMIT, about business skills. It is good to keep up your work skills, so things are always improving. We had some ladies who had been working before me, things hadn't been update for a number of years. You also have up-to-date knowledge to sell yourself.
